Requirement for .gov.ng Domain Registration
.gov.ng is a subset of the .ng domain name system and is exclusively reserved for use by the Nigerian government and its various agencies at federal, state, and local levels. To maintain its integrity, .gov.ng is strictly moderated by the .ng registry, and specific requirements must be fulfilled to secure approval for registration.
Guidelines
The following entities are eligible to register a .gov.ng domain:
- The Federal Government
- Any of the 36 State Governments
- Federal Ministries, Departments, Parastatals, and Institutions
Examples of .gov.ng domains include:
- firs.gov.ng
- finance.gov.ng
- lagos.gov.ng
- nigeria.gov.ng
- nafdac.gov.ng
Requirements
The following are mandatory for .gov.ng domain registration:
- A Letter of Authorization (LOA) from the government entity applying for the domain. This letter must be:
- Addressed to:
Nigeria Internet Registration Association,
8 Funsho Williams Avenue,
Iponri, Surulere, Lagos. - On the official letterhead of the government entity.
- Include the following details:
- Technical Contact:
- Name of the authorizing personnel
- Telephone number
- Email address
- Official position
- Admin Contact:
- Name of the authorizing personnel
- Telephone number
- Email address
- Official position
- Technical Contact:
- Provide at least two nameservers.
- The LOA must be scanned and sent via email to support@isslserv.ng as an attachment in GIF, PNG, JPEG, JPG, or PDF format.
The application will be verified directly with the government entity submitting the domain request.
